Pumper, Truck, Chief, and Deputy Chief Run 14 House
On Tuesday March 14th, 2017, members staffing the station during the snow storm were alerted for a house on fire in the 8000 block of 58th Ave in the Berwyn Heights neighborhood. E121, Tk812, C12, and C12A all made the response. While coming down 58th Ave, Tk814 advised they were on scene with a working fire. First arriving units had fire showing from division 1. E121 picked up E811’s line, and stretched the 400ft 2″ line and extended it with a 150ft 2″ high rise rack. E121 attempted to enter division 1 through the front door, but was directed to find a different way in. E121 then attempted to enter via a window and discovered a hole in the floor. E121 then reentered through the front door when a section of the stand pipe rack failed. E121 went to E811 and pulled their 300ft 2″ line. E121 deployed the line to side charlie and down into the basement, where they discovered fire that had dropped down from division 1. E121 extinguished the fire and went up the basement stairs to division 1, where they assisted with hitting hot spots. During this time, additional fire had dropped down to the basement and E121 redeployed their line to the basement. Meanwhile, TK812 had already arrived and split their crew. Part of the crew assisted with ladders and ventilation, while the other crew went to division 2 to assist with search and suppression operations. Units operated for an extended time during mop up and overhaul. C12 had safety and C12A also operated on the fire ground.
