
Chief, Engine, Foam, and Hazmat Run 49 2nd Alarm
Shortly after clearing a box in Company 34’s area, PSC dispatched a building fire in Company 49’s area. Chief 812 marked up on the initial box as the Volunteer Services Commander. Truck 812 began heading that way. Company 49 went on scene moments after dispatched with fire showing through the roof of a commercial building, and immediately requested the 2nd alarm. Chief 812 made the recommendation to command that Foam 812 and the Hazmat companies be started due to the nature of the contents of the facilities in that area. Foam 812, Hazmat Support Unit 12, and Engine 812B (121) all responded as part of the assignment. Once on scene, Foam 812 was used to flow various types of foam at various percentages. Members from Company 12 operated one foam line, as well as perfumed significant overhaul. Numerous metal cutting saws needed to be used to access pockets of fire beneath collapsed building members. Chief 812 was assigned operations during the incident. Company 12 operated for approximately 3 hours before returning to service.
