Truck and Chief Run 34 Apartment Fire
At 1830 on Thursday, August 11, 2016, Truck 12 was alerted as first due truck to an apartment fire with multiple 911 calls in the 8100 block of 15th Avenue in Company 34’s area. Truck 12 and Rescue Squad 1 (Hyattsville) arrived simultaneously to fire showing from multiple floors of a 3-story garden-style apartment building. Chief 12 established command and requested the 2nd alarm due to the construction type and fire spread on arrival. Truck 12’s interior crew gained entry to the building, located the fire apartment, directed the engine companies, performed searches and opened up while the exterior crew placed ladders and ventilated the roof. The attack held the fire to the apartment of origin with limited extension to the apartment above. Units from Company 12 remained on scene for approximately 3 hours to assist investigators before returning to service.
