
Harry Hickey Memorial Detail
On February 11, TK812 took part in the memorial service for Dr. Harry Hickey, CPVFD alumni member and retired University of Maryland Professor. TK812 and Prince Frederick TW2 set up a ladder arch at Trinity United Methodist Church in Prince Frederick, MD. Dr. Hickey was a Professor of Fire Protection Engineering for 27 years, retiring in 1988. He was an active CPVFD member during the years when the FPE program classrooms where in the same building as CPVFD’s previous station. Dr. Hickey taught and mentored a whole generation of CPVFD members who went on to become practicing FPEs around the world. His expertise included fire protection hydraulics and fire service planing. Dr. Hickey had a long history in the fire service, beginning in New York state and included a stint as the Fire Chief and Director at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab.
