A press conference was held at the College Park Firehouse on Monday, September 24th, 2018.  Senator Ben Cardin was on hand to present the check to the Officers and Firefighters of the CPFD, totaling more than $486,000.  These funds are from the Federal SAFER grant, which will be utilized for tuition reimbursement and stipends for live ins and student members of the department.  Also included is the Assistance to Firefighters Grant, which will pay for two self loading power cots, and two new stair chairs for the ambulances.

Senator Chris Van Hollen and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer were both instrumental in supporting and securing these grants as well.  PGFD Chief Ben Barksdale, Chief Bill Corrigan, and many of the live ins were also on hand to accept the grants.
