
Engine and Truck Run Two Fires before Holiday Dinner
On Saturday December 8th, Truck 12 was alerted for the house fire in the 5900 block of Mentana St as the 3rd due special service. Units arrived on scene and found a working fire in the bedroom. Truck 12’s crew conducted a search of the structure, and laddered the rear of the building. During the fire, Engine 122 was transferred to Company 28, West Lanham Hills. Truck 12 cleared from Mentana St approximately 1 hour later.
Immediately after clearing, another box assignment was dispatched to the 9600 block of Franklin Ave in Lanham. Engine 122 was dispatched first due engine, and Truck 12 second due special service as the search company. Units arrived on scene to find fire showing from a large detached garage, and started the working fire dispatch. Engine 122’s crew extinguished the fire, Truck 12’s crew conducted a search and assisted with salvage and overhaul. Units operated for an hour and a half before returning to service.
Upon returning to quarters, crews cleaned tools and readied equipment for the next call, while the annual holiday dinner was prepared.
