
Truck 12 & Chief 12 run 2 alarm apartment fire in Co. 41’s area
(BELTSVILLE, MD) – At approximately 2045 hours today, Public Safety Communications (PSC) dispatched the box alarm for the report of an apartment fire in the 11300 block of Evans Trail in Company 41’s (Calverton) first due. While units were en route, PSC received several more calls, including those that reported possible people trapped on the second floor. Units arrived to find heavy fire showing from the top 2 floors. Truck 12 responded with 8 personnel and arrived as the first truck company on scene. Personnel from Truck 12 split crews allowing half of the crew to make entry into the structure and the other half to ascend to the roof. Truck 12’s interior crew was assigned as the Division 1 Supervisor and worked with Engine 831 and Engine 841 to conduct a search of the 1st floor and extinguished the fire. Meanwhile, the exterior crew cut several holes in the roof for ventilation. Chief 12 directed the fire attack on the 2nd floor. Company 12 operated on the fireground for approximately 3 hours before returning to service.
