
Truck 12 runs Hyattsville house fire, 2 blocks from working apartment fire
(HYATTSVILLE, MD) – As units from the Prince George’s County Fire Department were operating at an apartment fire in the 2400 block of Queens Chapel Rd in Company 1’s (Hyattsville) first due, Public Safety Communications (PSC) began receiving multiple calls for a house fire just down the street in the 2200 block of Queens Chapel Rd. Units on scene of the apartment fire confirmed that they could see smoke coming from a house that was a couple of blocks away. PSC dispatched a box alarm for the house fire at approximately 1536 hours, and units arrived on scene with fire showing from the Charlie side. Truck 12 was assigned as the basement division supervisor and conducted a search with negative results. Additionally, personnel worked to remove security bars from windows around the dwelling. The interior crew from Truck 12 worked with Engine 702 to open up the walls and ceiling in the basement and extinguished the fire. Truck 12 operated on the fireground for approximately 2 hours before returning to service.
